  Meeting up with the MTB's

On another perfectly sunny day there was the poorest turnout so far. 2 !!. Just Dunc and MC made it to the Rising sun for the 9.30 start.

There were a few good excuses for no shows. It was Ric’s birthday and we were all out (at the Rising Sun) the night before enjoying a few beers and watching England get hammered in the Rugby world cup final. Si said he could no longer drink and then ride his bike the next day, Will was moving house, Jules is in Italy, and Ric was a bit tender the next morning so same excuse as Si (no excuses for the rest of the no shows !!!).

The plan was to meet up for a brew (or beer) with the SCCC  MTB ride that was in same area. After heading through Marple Bridge and onto Glossop MC had his usual stop to adjust a part of his bike (again the saddle). The 2 headed past the bottom of snake pass and over to the Holme Moss climb. As soon as they had hit the lower steeper slopes and started to suffer Les called to see what time we were expected at the bottom of the Isle of Sky, great timing as always. The expected time of 30 minutes was a little off as it took more like 45 with a tough headwind up the Isle of Sky.

When descended they met up with Les and the others to enjoy a pint sat outside. The groups stayed together as they went over to Les’s house (the start & finish point for the MTB’ers) Dunc and MC continued onto flatter roads through Denton and home. It was a tough ride but well worth it in the excellent weather. MC did the most miles with 70 (and no cramp this week).
