B Run Sunday 17th July
This Sunday ( 17th July ), we'll be having a slower B-run for anyone who fancies it.
This means steady pace and riding in a group on flat / rolling, own pace on any sizeable hills (if there are any Winking smile ) and we all wait at the top.
The usual meeting times and places apply.( 09:30 @ Rising Sun, Hazel Grove & 10:00 @ Unicorn, Dean Row).
Depending on the timings and the great british weather, we can either opt for a snack stop or a proper lunch break.
Any questions/concerns/observations let Ric know
I will now offer up prayers to the Sun God
Open-mouth smile

"Can't Swim, Can't Ride, Cant Run"
A book written by Andy Holgate of Manchester Tri Club

The book tells how Andy went from a 19 stone couch potato to completing an Ironman in 11 months. A North West lad from Lancaster, therefore the book features events around the north west such as Nantwich, Chester, Liverpool, Macclesfield, Preston etc...as well as events further afield in Germany and the USA.

Andy wrote a blog for family and friends and then secured a book deal. The book has been described as “inspirational” by Triathlete’s World magazine, and it’s been a top 10 sports biography in the UK.

Message from the Treasurer:
2011 Subs collection was painless. Almost all existing members renewed in good time and we've had quite a first timers too. There is one person who thinks that SCCC stands for Stockport Clarion Christmas Club. We're receiving the subs in sporadic installments, but hope to have the full amount by the time 2012 subs are due!

As discussed at the AGM, if anyone has any suggestions for club-related purchases or activities that will require financial input, please contact either myself or Dunc with details.

Colin & Pauline Norton have been made Honorary members - in recognition of all the work they've done to rejuvenate and support SCCC over the past decades.

National Clarion Easter Meet 2011
Matthew Ball (West Lothian Clarion) would like to see as many members from each Clarion section as possible. He has put a massive amount of effort into organising events, races, presentation etc.
Is anyone able to make it? It's a long distance to travel but is well worth it. Easter Meet Website. Deadline for booking is April 4th.

ALSO we have been asked if we can run the Easter Meet in 2012 in Buxton. I think this would be great for Stockport as the last time it was held at Buxton was way back in 1965 !!!!! (47 years ago !!)  I think its time we helped out and organised one...

National Clarion Time Trial Championships

All Clarion sections from the country can take part. Just complete the entry form and send to the relevant address. Dunc will be entering them all so if you would like to do any let him know to sort out lifts etc

We can ride out as its only 30 mins away from Stockport

Bicycle Village 22nd May 2011
...is a new event that is taking place in Manchester to promote cycling and bicycles in all forms.
http://www.bicyclevillage.the-bike-barn.co.uk/
It is held at Jackson's boat yard, Sale Water Park on 22nd May and it is the perfect place to bring the family and enjoy a bicycle museum, guided cycle rides, bike repairs, bike auction, mountain bike skills training and bike hire to mention a few.
The event is held in aid of "The Childrens Adventure Farm Trust" and most of the attractions are free of charge! So put the date in your diaries and lets hope the weather will be nice!
