SCCC's Derek Hodgins becomes World Champion

SCCC Super-Veteran Derek 'Hairy' Hodgins is pictured on the podium after becoming World Masters Pursuit Champion.   Below is the bloke that Derek beat, Canadas Norman Sheil.  Norman was World Pursuit Champion 40 years ago for Great Britain, but in September 1998 SCCC's Club President Derek beat Sheil by 2 seconds in the 60+ catagory at Manchester Velodrome to take Stockport Clarions First ever World title.
Our folicly challenged funsters' incredible 1998 season also included a 3hrs 56 mins 100 mile time-trial, a national age record, to add to his National Veterans One Hour Record. Derek Hodgins (centre) - SCCC Superhero
